Thanksgiving this year was rather quiet and somber, but relaxing compared to most! We enjoyed a simple breakfast of cinnamon rolls, so we could save some room for the gourmet lunch we were about to devour... I grew up watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as a yearly tradition with my family, but being that we don't have TV channels or Cable we weren't able to enjoy it that morning, making the house feel a little empty. It made me that much more jealous & sad that I wasn't out in Cali with my parents, sister, & uncle as they had been spending the entire week celebrating together & of course, watching the parade together (this was one of the first times in years some of my family was able to get together for a holiday)! It's hard to celebrate when you're missing family and knowing you're missing out on some much needed fun & quality time together... But, we then had an early lunch and feasted around the table with my husbands side of the family, hosted by my sweet sister-in-law! Of course, we had amazing food which Zeek greatly enjoyed as his first Thanksgiving! We sat around talking & enjoying each others company until the little babe started revealing his need for a nap. So, off to home we went to sit and waste the afternoon (or take pictures)! That evening we were able to continue our little tradition... the grandparents willingly watched Zeek while Jonny & I went out to the movies! It's the one time of year we allow ourselves to splurge on the outrageous cost of the movie theater! It was much needed time with the hubby, which was amazing (and so was Catching Fire)!
[It might just be me, but days like that are when I love to utilize the 'wasted' time at home with a little bit of family time in front of the camera's self-timer, documenting the Holiday... ]
